Traditional Mexican Fruit Punch - Ponche Navideño, is a traditional hot drink during the Christmas period. It is made using water, fresh and dried fruits like tamarind, prunes, hibiscus, sugar cane, cinnamon, and sweetened with Piloncillo.
Navidad - Celebrations are held throughout Mexico on 25th December to commemorate the birth of Jesus.
The Mexican celebration of Christmas (as a whole) is called Las Posadas and begins on December 16 and ends on 24th. It commemorates the journey that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge where Mary could give birth to the baby Jesus. The ninth evening of Las Posadas is Buena Noche, Christmas Eve.
