What is needed to batch cook?
For your healthy meal prep you will need some large pans. Make sure the recipe you plan to cook will fit into the pans you have available. You'll also need a sharp knife and cutting board to prepare your ingredients, as well as storage containers. Invest in some reusable plastic or glass containers that are freezer-friendly.
What are the benefits of batch cooking?
Batch cooking saves time, saves money, lets you eat healthily all week and allows you to further enjoy the food that you have made. It's also fun, let's face it. Sometimes there's nothing more satisfying than taking out a home-cooked meal from the freezer for dinner that night, with no need to cook that day!
How do you store batch cooked food?
Make sure you portion up your batches. If you want one big one for a dinner party, do it in a big dish, or make 4 smaller portions for separate meals for 2 etc. Make sure you freeze in ovenproof dishes. Make sure the meals are covered properly so that no air can get inside.
Is batch cooking cheaper?
When you're low on time, having standby lunches and dinners in the freezer can be a lifesaver. Equally, making big batches often works out cheaper than making smaller meals.
