Opening Our Salsa Jars

Home | Blog | FAQs

Why Can Your Jars Be Hard To Open?

Our salsa jars can sometimes be a little hard to open. The problem results from the Salsa being made in Mexico which is 2,250 meters above sea level. When the jars arrive in the UK (which is pretty much at sea level) the difference in altitude creates a vacuum under the lid which makes the jars hard to open.

So How Do I Open Them?

Encountering a vacuum-sealed jar can be frustrating. Fear not! A simple solution is at hand. By gently tapping the side of the lid, you can create a small dent, disrupting the seal and allowing the jar to open with ease.

This method often proves effective in releasing the stubborn grip of the lid.

tried everthing, hot water on lid, hammer to lid, no luck. Had to punch a hole with a screwdriver. Not worth the aggravation.

10+ years as a rock climber, and I’d never damaged a tendon. Until the fateful day that I tried to open a jar of your tomatillo salsa… 9 months off of climbing after that, while the damned thing healed.

Plus the further pain of having to explain to my climbing buddies how I’d injured myself.

Will be sure to try this next time.
